Dean Hofer

Mr. Hofer retired from Texas Instruments as an antenna design engineer in 1991. This offered him the opportunity to exercise his creative talents (inherited from his grandfather) in the area of woodworking. He started by making beautiful mosaic inlaid tables. These tables were shown at many shows. A serious bout with cancer however, diminished his strength, so by God’s grace, he found new ways to use his creative talents by doing custom picture framing and matting made from people’s own sentimental wood. Mr. Hofer also creates beautiful handmade writing instruments. The writing instruments are made from many natural exotic woods from around the world, people’s own sentimental woods, deer antler, and celluloid (a beautiful material used by famous Italian expensive pen makers).

Mr. Hofer’s pens are always available for viewing at his home in Richardson. Many of the styles are also available for viewing and ordering via www.woodensecrets.com.
