Jayne Sparrer
I have always had a need to be creative. Through the years I've satisfied this need by learning to quilt, embroidery, sew, use watercolors, oils, pastels, and stained glass.
However, the love of my life proved to be metal smithing and the creation of pieces of jewelry, using semiprecious stones, sea glass and dichroic glass. The sea glass, I collect myself each time I visit my son in California.
I make the dichroic glass under the supervision of artist Kay Rice. I have studied metalsmithing at Brookhaven College for a number of years with Sue Gordon. Each piece is one of a kind and I receive my inspiration from the assembly of stones and mountings much like the assembly of a quilt.
