I have always had a need to be creative. Through the years I’ve satisfied this need by learning to quilt, embroider, sew, use watercolors, oils, pastels, and work in stained glass and mosaics. I have remnants in my studio of each effort.
However, the love of my life proved to be metalsmithing and the creation of pieces of jewelry using semi-precious stones, sea glass and dichroic glass. The sea glass, I collect myself each time I visit my son in California—ironically at a place named Glass Beach which is located down a terrifyingly steep incline My husband says that after we factor in airfare, car rental hotels costs, (Have to be there at low tide) and of course—eating. –the sea glass is the most valuable part of my collection. I fuse the dichroic glass in my home studio.
I have studied glass fusing with Kay Rice, Lois McCormack and Sue Porch. I have had classes at the Craft Guild and have studied metalsmithing at Brookhaven College for a number of years with Sue Gordon, I have also studied with Kim St Jean, Marilyn O’Hare and have taken numerous other workshops with other artists through the years. Each piece that I create is one of a kind.
