RENEE ROBISON is An Artist in Bloom
After spending 36 years in corporate retail, Ms. Robison was blessed to retire early.  Wondering what to do next, she signed up for an oil painting class at the Craft Guild of Dallas within the first month.  It was a big surprise to see the first painting turn out, “not too bad”.  After the second class, Renee began painting at home, learning to create shapes and blend colors.  Soon she was painting daily, a practice that quickly improved her skills.  When a friend offered to buy the first painting, an idea formed that maybe this was more than just a hobby.

Ms. Robison considers herself a colorist, leaning towards bright and vibrant themes. Through workshops and online classes, her interest has turned to painting landscapes, often focusing on Texas wildflowers.

Inspiration for Ms. Robison’s work is rooted in her extensive travels, which have allowed her to experience the beauty of nature across diverse regions of the world. Her 2018 solo exhibition at the Goodrich Gallery was inspired by a 500-mile pilgrimage across northern Spain along the Camino de Santiago. She has traveled throughout much of Europe, as well as New Zealand, Antarctica, India, and China. More recently, she has explored America’s National Parks, from Maine to Alaska. Her latest body of work, created for the 2026 North Dallas Studio Tour, draws inspiration from a journey through Eastern and Southern Africa. The majestic landscapes and the noble wildlife that inhabit them have stayed with her, and she felt compelled to capture the spirit of this extraordinary experience on canvas.

While oil painting was the original medium Ms. Robison learned, she has also taken watercolor classes and is self-taught in acrylics.   She continues to paint as many days as possible, in her studio. The pandemic actually enabled her to take live zoom classes with a landscape artist from Maine, later attending an in-person workshop in Acadia National Park. Her most recent workshop experience was at a chateau in the Loire valley of France.

Ms. Robison has participated in several multi media art shows and has been featured in 4 one-woman shows.  You can see her most current exhibit at Lover’s Lane United Methodist Church through April 20, 2025.  Her paintings are sold on the Daily Paintworks website, where she has also been featured as artist of the week.
